Black Market Prices for Gad Elmaleh’s Tour in Morocco Reach MAD 5,000

French-Moroccan actor and comedian Gad Elmaleh recently announced his upcoming “D’ailleurs” tour, in which he will perform comedy shows in the Moroccan cities of Rabat, Casablanca, and Marrakech, between January 29 and February 4.

Elmaleh’s fans in Morocco, who were eager to attend the comedian’s shows, were shocked to learn that all the tickets were sold out from gad Elmaleh’s website within hours. Meanwhile, the tickets are reselling for up to MAD 5,000 ($492.8) per ticket on the black market.

The original price of Elmaleh’s upcoming shows in Morocco range between MAD 250 and 320 MAD per ticket, according to the comedian’s official website.

Elmaleh’s fans took to the comment section of his social media to express their frustration with the matter. “Gad sold out in Morocco we want extra dates!!,” said an Instagram user.

“Gad, you are the pride of Moroccans. We adore you guys. Can’t wait to see you guys performing in Marrakech in February. However, I was wondering if there would be another batch of tickets on the site in charge of sales. It currently shows ‘closed,’” another Instagram user said.

Other frustrated fans indicated that they have successfully reserved or bought tickets, but were later surprised to receive messages informing them that they have not successfully purchased their tickets.

Converging reports suggested that black market operators took advantage of the fact that many fans were eager to attend Elmaleh’s show and bought a significant number of tickets and are reselling them on online platforms for a higher price.

The Moroccan comedian is yet to address the tickets issue on his social media platforms.

In addition to his upcoming shows in Morocco, Elmaleh will also perform in France’s Grenoble on February 11, in London on March 3, and in Tel Aviv on March 12 and 13.
