“Uganda Solidarity Movement with Western Sahara Statement on the European Court of Justice(ECJ) ruling regarding the EU-Morocco trade agreements.

Uganda Solidarity Movement with Western Sahara warmly welcomes the landmark ruling by the European Court of Justice, declaring the EU-Morocco trade agreements null and void due to the non-consultation of the Sahrawi people. This decision acknowledges the fundamental right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination and consent over agreements affecting their territory.

We commend the ECJ for upholding International Law and recognizing Morocco’s occupation of Western Sahara. This ruling sends a strong message that trade deals cannot be made at the expense of marginalized communities.

The People of Western Sahara have long been denied their right to participate in decisions affecting their land, resources, and future. This ruling is a significant step towards rectifying this historical injustice.

We stand in solidarity with Western Sahara and urge the international community to defend and advocate for the self-determination and national independence of Western Sahara. We call on the EU and Morocco to engage in meaningful dialogue with POLISARIO to ensure inclusive and equitable agreements.

As Uganda Solidarity Movement with Western Sahara, we reiterate our commitment to advocate for the inalienable rights of the people of Western Sahara and call on peace-loving people across the world to join this just cause.

This victory would not have been possible without the tireless efforts of human rights advocates, International Organizations, and solidarity movements like ours. Together, we celebrate this triumph for justice, self-determination, and human rights.”
