Morocco has implemented a clear and proactive strategy to promote peace and security.
Morocco’s ambassador to Chile, Kenza El Ghali, highlighted Morocco’s commitment to promoting peace and security, as well as combating all forms of violence and terrorism, efforts that have helped Morocco become a world leader in this field.
Ambassador Kenza El Ghali made the statement during a master class entitled “Morocco: the culture of peace and the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI,” which was held in Santiago, Chile’s capital and largest city.
The fight against terrorism, organized crime, and delinquency are all global concerns, El Ghali emphasized, stressing that Morocco is a key player in UN peacekeeping missions.
El Ghali noted that Morocco has implemented a clear and proactive strategy to promote peace and security, notably the development of the security sector, cyber security, education, religious justice, and migration policies.
The Moroccan ambassador also highlighted Morocco’s unwavering commitment to the Palestinian cause and peace in the Middle East, recalling King Mohammed VI’s insistence on placing “the Palestinian issue on the same level of priority as the Moroccan Sahara.”
Morocco ranked 1st as a global contributor to international peace and security according to a 2022 study published in the Diplomatic Courier’s Good Country Index (GCI).
The Moroccan diplomat’s statement comes as Morocco’s success and regional leadership in combating terrorism and other emerging security threats continue to make it a highly sought-after partner.
Earlier this month, the head of Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) Abdellatif Hammouchi met with the Director of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) William Burns to discuss stepping up US-Morocco strategic cooperation in the fields of security and intelligence sharing.
The two officials’ meeting demonstrates Morocco’s commitment to fighting terrorism and other security concerns at the regional and international levels.
