The ministers not only commended the positive trajectory of their countries’ bilateral ties but also delved into a comprehensive discussion on regional issues during the telephonic exchange.

They highlighted their mutual desire to strengthen ties in all domains, emphasizing the strategic importance of robust diplomatic connections between Morocco and the United Kingdom.

The commitment to fostering collaboration was palpable throughout the discussion, reflecting the two nations’ dedication to deepening their partnership, Morocco’s state news agency reported.

The two top diplomats acknowledged the positive trajectory in UK-Morocco cooperation in recent years, citing the association agreement the two countries signed in 2019 as the main factor in the post-Brexit surge in Moroccan-British relations.

Ambassador Simon Martin, shedding light on this surge in a recent interview, highlighted the continuous dynamism in bilateral cooperation.

He underscored the remarkable 50% increase in exchanges between 2019 and 2022. Moroccan exports to the UK nearly tripled during this period, reaching 22.9 billion dirhams and showcasing the tangible impact of the 2019 association agreement.

Commercial exchanges, a barometer of the flourishing relations, surged from 15.3 billion dirhams in 2019 to 22.9 billion dirhams in 2022, translating to a total bilateral trade volume of 2.7 billion pounds sterling.

This economic collaboration serves as a testament to the resilience and productivity of the diplomatic ties between Morocco and the United Kingdom.

Beyond the evolving UK-Morocco cooperation, Bourita and Cameron also discussed the situation in Gaza. Both ministers recognize the pressing need for concerted diplomatic efforts to end the ongoing war and address the accompanying challenges in the region.
