FIFA to pay Moroccan clubs $1.43 million in World Cup benefits
FIFA said it would pay Casablanca’s rivals Wydad and Raja $1.43 million as part of its Clubs Benefits Program, consisting in sharing the financial returns of the Qatar World Cup.
The two Moroccan teams are part of 440 clubs from 51 member associations that will benefit from the Program, known by its acronym CBP, by receiving a share of the revenue for the release of players to participate at the final tournament in Qatar.
Wydad was the highly paid African team with $1.4 million, while Raja received $31,938, according to a FIFA report.
FIFA will distribute a total of $209 million following the release of 837 footballers for a rounded per player daily amount of $10,950, regardless of how many minutes they played during the tournament, it said.
Manchester United ranked on top of all teams with a disbursement of $4.59 million, followed by FC Barcelona with $4.53 million and Bayern Munich with $4.31, while Real Madrid and Paris ST Germain got $3.83 million each.
Morocco ranked fourth in Qatar World Cup after a memorable run becoming the first African nation to reach the semi-final.
